About Jim's Professional Experience
Since 1987, I have worked with a wide range of clients to help them pursue their goals, plan for their futures, and prepare to preserve their assets, with a focus on building independence and confidence for themselves and their families.
In 1989, I acquired a franchise of Chicago-based Stewart Jennings, Inc., which later became SJI Financial Services. For nearly three decades, I have led the firm in serving clients from diverse backgrounds, with a strong emphasis on educators, first responders, municipal employees, and nonprofit organizations among others.
I have worked extensively with retirement plan sponsors for school districts, government agencies, and nonprofit employer groups across Arizona and parts of New Mexico.
In 2021, I transitioned the firm’s broker/dealer relationship to LPL Financial, the #1 independent broker-dealer in the country*, supporting continued growth and expanded services. We value the local business aspect of our practice and the strong support, depth of service, and knowledge of a national firm like LPL.
I specialize in retirement planning, financial planning, tax-advantaged strategies, asset allocation, insurance analysis, annuities, and retirement systems, including state plans, public safety pensions, deferred compensation, and IRA strategies. I also hold multiple FINRA licenses, Arizona life and health insurance licenses, and professional designations, including CRPC** and TGPC.
I work with all individuals and families seeking to build and preserve wealth, with special experience helping educators and public employees from organizations such as the University of Arizona, Pima Community College, and local school districts, as well as first responders. While based in Southern Arizona, I serve clients throughout the state and beyond.
All investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. No strategy assures success or protects against loss. Asset allocation does not ensure a profit or protect against loss.

Meet Jim After Hours
Outside of work, I make a point to stay active, curious, and connected to the people and activities I care about most. I have a lifelong appreciation for adventure and learning, whether that’s through aviation, where I’ve earned a private pilot license, or through music, where I’ve spent time playing as a rock and roll drummer. I've practiced martial arts, jumped out of perfectly good airplanes, and tried entry-level scuba diving.
I enjoy spending time outdoors whenever possible, especially camping, fly fishing, and golf, where I can unplug and reset. I also remain involved in wildlife conservation efforts, reflecting my respect for nature and the importance of preserving it for future generations. Giving back and staying active in youth sports has also been meaningful to me, including coaching soccer and softball teams over the years.
At home, family is at the center of everything I do. I’m supported by my wife, Penny, and together we are proud parents of two daughters, both nurses. We are also excited to have welcomed a baby grandson, and becoming a grandpa has added an entirely new and special chapter to my life.
As a Tucson native, I have a deep connection to my hometown and the community around it. Whether I’m spending time with family, outdoors, or pursuing personal passions, I value staying grounded, active, and present in the moments that matter most.
